Graduation #1 and #2

The end of the school year brought two graduations in our family--
Mariah - 8th grade
Dallin - 6th grade
It was a celebration!
It was a lot of fun seeing both of these kids of ours end a chapter in their lives and prepare for the next.  I can hardly believe I'll be the mom of a high schooler and that I'll have children in all three of the school district's student buildings.  It's a lot to keep track of!

Mariah was awarded Student of the Year in Science.
Smartypants!

Dallin finished the year strong and got to spend a week at Outdoor School with his classmates.
He will be a great junior high student!

Memorial Day Weekend

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend on Mt. Hood at the Cooper Spur Inn.  What a charming place to stay!  The kids loved the spiral staircase in our condo and the tennis courts.  I loved the quiet of the outdoors and the views of the mountain.

No, the boy in the blue underwear is not falling nor is he in peril.  He's just competing in the American Ninja Warrior competition being held in our hotel room.

We spent some time in Hood River to shop, eat ice cream, check out the skate park, and swim at the aquatic center.  I really love Hood River and the surrounding area.  The town is nicely kept and has a fun, touristy side to it that is appealing.  The little towns and orchards in the valley on the way to Mt. Hood are amazingly beautiful and have views of the mountain that are breathtaking.  I always enjoy driving through the valley and I would love to live in this area.

One day we explored Lost Lake.  Why have I not known about this beautiful mountain lake before?  It was awesome!  We hiked the loop around the lake and enjoyed the deep forest and lake water.  I always love a good Pacific NW forest and this one did not disappoint.  The trees were beautiful and full of visual interest and the trail was well kept and very enjoyable.  Unfortunately, the clouds hid our view of Mt. Hood, but I'm sure we'll return to enjoy it in the future.

The kids were convinced they were seeing a display of force from the X-Men's Wolverine on this log.

It was a lovely weekend.  I'm glad we were able to get away and enjoy some family time together.  We live in a beautiful area and I'm so grateful to share it together.
