Blast off!

Dallin's scout troop held a Space Derby for the first time.  Dallin and I worked together to make his spaceship.  It was actually quite fun and I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with him putting it together.  I found it to be much less intimidating than building a pinewood derby car.

Although we had some frustrations and setbacks at the derby (not necessarily due to our own shortcomings), we had fun and it was a great learning experience for both of us.  It reinforced to us that these events are more about the experience and growth, not the winning or place ribbon received at the end of the night.  I'm pleased with Dallin's effort and good sportsmanship--he is quite the Scout!
